Richard Ion
Profile
Hello! Since first picking up a camera (a Boots Beirette as I recall), I have been fascinated by photography and loved the whole idea of the latent image trapping a moment in time. For may years I enjoyed developing and printing my mono films – watching the image appear in front of your eyes is a magical experience.
I’m now almost entirely digital and likewise enjoy molding an image to represent what I saw in my mind rather than with my eye (if that makes any sense!). As I’m not very good at this side of the work, I still find most enjoyment in the actual taking of the pictures, for they are “perfect” in my mind and invariably far less so when I look at them later on!
For the record I now mainly use a Nikon D300 and Nikon 16-85mm or Sigma 10-20mm lenses.
I live in Lancaster, UK with my wonderful and ever-patient wife and “photographer’s assistant” as she terms herself (though she is just as talented herself!), Shonah.
