This is the third in a series of photos I will take of my homes inner life. The soft ambiance we have achieved within an antique motif. Our house is at least 195 years old. We don’t know exactly how long because the records don’t go back further than that. But our goal when we bought it was to make it into a museum. We are far from having done that yet. It is happening today because the equipment that I needed, (good quality at high ISO) is now available to catch the actual lighting, with nothing additional thrown in. Unfortunately the project was mostly “nipped in the bud” by my disability, but some of the original inspiration is manifest today.

1. I was born.
2. Realized that I was the Only Universe I would ever know
– outside of you.
3. Discovered that I could take part in creation.
4. So I do.

A wonderfully composed image Ernie ~ beautiful work!!

  • Thank you Sharon. It’s just the inside of my house. I wanted to take pictures when I got the equipment that would take a picture without adding or changing the actual lighting. The lamp can be made brighter but is turned down for the photo. Otherwise, That’s a small picture of our living space shoot over the dinning room table.

    A 195 year old home!
Goodness, the stories that your home must contain Ernie

  • Yes, at least 195 years – and it was mostly owned by one family. (so we were told). The oldsters in the neighborhood, have told us about it. The buildings on either side of us, have the stories. We could get tax deductions and low interest loans to keep it up, but we have to let people tour through the house a certain number of hours each week to get that benefit and we have to spend more to keep it authentic. We had to spend 6000 dollars to have the front door milled to spec to replace the old one. Fix ups have to maintain the authenticity. I became disabled 6 months after we moved in so all of that came off the table. You can’t sell it for more because it’s an antique because the people who buy it know it will cost a lot to maintain.

It was love at first site for Kris. So, I didn’t care as long as I’m feed and keep dry, I’ll live anywhere.
Thanks for the kind words. I can take pictures now with natural room lighting so I can catch the true ambiance of the rooms. That’s why it’s happening now.

How exquisite. I have a real soft spot for old homes , old architecture of all sorts. Australia isnt as old , but when I was a child I lived in a house that was 100 years old , made of cedar . Ive written about it in…. THIS PLACE.
Im my present house (which was built in 1948) I have many items from last century and earlier…antique bottles , furniture , artifacts , maybe I should have been born in earlier times …lol..
    A beautiful photograph Ernie
