The Santa Rita church in the New Mexico ghost town of Riley was established in 1883. It is still used for mass on the feast day of Santa Rita and at other occasions determined by the parish priest. The attached graveyard is still well maintained and has received burials in the past few years. The remainder of this once busy mining town has long since been left to the elements. The church grounds and graveyard are still fenced and gated, and this figure of Jesus is atop a pedestal at the main gate. The other side of the gate features Saint Rita in a black and white nun’s habit.
