Worcester Night Shot
I took this photo the other night while waiting to meet up with some photographer friends from Canada. There isn’t much left of Worcester State Hospital but I still enjoy shooting the clocktower.
That being said, I had a real hard time processing this photo. I now have Photoshop CS4 and I find myself fumbling through its many options and coming up with shots that aren’t even close to what I’m seeing in my mind. I’m OK with how this shot turned out but am not 100% satisfied so I’m looking for comments and suggestions on this one!

i think it’s one of your better pictures except for whatever is going on in the bottom left corner.

What are you seeing in the corner? Suggestions to fix it?
Katherine Ande... replied
Do you mean that hill of dirt?

Sure if that’s what it is. You could clone over top of it to continue the skyline leaving only a slight bit at the bottom. Or you could always just crop it but I think that would ruin the picture.

Good call. I’ll see if I can clone it out. It does kind of make it unbalanced.

Actually my dear, I like this just the way it is, is this Worcester State Hosp in Worcester MA? and if so what what street is it on?
Katherine Ande... replied
It is indeed WSH. It’s on Belmont in Worcester but the roads around it are closed because of the construction. They tore down all but the clocktower.

Good thing then, that you were able to capture this before the demolition…again, the loss of another fabulous building built in the late 1800’s to early 1900’s. I love history and so much of it is in architecture, when they demolish these they are wiping history right off the map…a bad habit in the United States, especially Massachusetts
Katherine Ande... replied
Massachusetts is the worst offender. Trust me.

I so agree with you and I truly enjoyed our phone conversation, I can’t wait until we can go out and shoot together :)

You better believe it girly. “Look Mom! I made friends!” HAHAHAHA!
