Hope you had an extra pair of shorts along with you! Wow! This is beautiful Brian!
Brian Carey replied
Didn’t need the shorts fortunately, could have used a towel or two. I spent about 4 hours in the rain trying to get this shot (and I got a few other nice ones). But he wasn’t too concerned with me his woman was giving him a hard time!!

Brian, you must have been very calm and collected when you saw this shot. LOL. I would have been shaking and muttering and dropping my lenses, etc. As far as I know, seeing these guys is not a common experience. Great capture and well done.
Brian Carey replied
Thanks Steve! This picture was taken at our provincial nature reserve, Salmonier Nature Park which is about a 30 minute drive from St John’s so they are not really in the wild but it isn’t a zoo either. The areas the animals are kept in are quite large but fenced it.The animals are either being nursed back to health or cannot be released back into the wild because they would not be able to survive. For example they have bald eagles and snowy owls with broken wings. Not sure what the lynxs’ story is though? That being said this still wasn’t an easy picture to get. I’ve been going there for over 20 years and only managed to see the lynx once before.
Bunny Clarke
Superb capture. I have only seen one of these and that was when I came face to face as a child. Scared both of us. :o) Magnificent animal.

Hey Len, I saw your shot here was a Challenge Avatar for All About Your Best Work. That is always an honor. So congrats. As good as winning the challenge I think.

Brian, excellent work! This was worth waiting in the rain. A wonderful image. Congratulations to you for capturing this image as well as the accolades it has received. Well deserved.

Beautiful shot,
Until now I always believed the Lynx cats was only of a medium size
but this photo shows they are rather large.
More beautiful than I ever imagine also.
Thanks Brian.

Superb capture of a beautiful animal, Brian.
Lynda Kerr
Beautiful image! He looks mean.(no wonder the mrs.gives him a hard time) They still get hungry in nature reserves. The only ‘wild’ life I encounder is the occasional indifferend kangaroo or a comatosed koala.

Wow…...... this is such a fantastic image of such a beautiful Lynx – so much detail and the woods & fauna look amazing – what a magical moment – just beautiful – well done.
Alan Dean
The lynx has to be my favourite animal, along with the snow leopard and wolves – I dream about one day having the time to spend to photograph one in the wild. A read your note above … 20 years to see one …. I reckon I’d need snow for tracks, a hide, lots of snow hares and endless patience. thanks for sharing this ….
