What a wondeful shot of Canadiana from the East Coast. Great work.
Kevin Kroeker
Awesome work Brian. I am heading to CapeSpear this afternoon. I was up on Signal Hill yesterday on my way to work to have a look at the bergs.
Stephen Rowsell
the bergs are coming, the bergs are coming! exciting times for photogs in newfoundland! :D
and a very nice image to boot. nicely done brian!
Brian Carey replied
Thanks Stephen. “The Icebergs are coming” sounds like a good call for the tourists. This is a little early for the bergs I believe, at least to have so many large ones so early. There are three including this one at Cape Spear, one out around Logy Bay and two in Maddox Cove. At least that what I see today, course there must be many more especially around the east coast of the island.
DIANEPEAREN
WHAT AN AWESOME SIGHT. I HAVE ONLY SEEN THEM ONCE….SOMETHING YOU NEVER FORGET. BEAUTIFULLY DONE BRIAN.THE FENCE,RIPPLES ON THE WATER..AND THE SUN SHINING ON THE LIGHT HOUSE….A LOVELY CAPTURE OF YOUR PART OF OUR AWESOME COUNTRY BRIAN.
Mary Campbell
Are the icebergs normal or is it an indication of Global Warming?? Love the picture.
Brian Carey replied
Thanks Mary. The icebergs are normal for this time of year, usually depends if the wind blows them onshore. A bigger indication of global warming might be the lack of pack ice here this time of year. When I was a boy people used to walk across St John’s harbour or even some of the smaller inlets the drifting arctic ice was so abundant. And to think we are further south than London, Vancouver and Paris. We’re at the mercy of the ocean currents!
RickF
Great capture of berg and lighthouse
Mary Campbell
Thanks Brian, that was really interesting. I didn’t know newfoundland was further south and Paris.. that’s an amazing thought..
Brian Carey replied
Hi Mary, just for the record St John’s and Cape Spear are at 47 north, Paris at 48 north. The northern reaches of the island extend beyond that. Thanks again.
