Joanne Bradley
That is so remarkale! In itself a beautiful landscape full of the mystery of nightime but that line of lightness and that brilliant star make this into an exceptional image!
Brian Carey
Thank You Joanne. The light which comes out as a star is Cape Spear lighthouse. The line of light is a car that passes through the frame. Thanks again!
OldBirch
No words for it, just a great big smile…
Brian Carey replied
Thank You YoungBirch!

A wow image! I don’t think I can find any place in Singapore like this – great scenery and all dark except in the distance.
Brian Carey replied
Thank You Richard. Couldn’t of done it without a tripod though ; )
Ken Boxsell
Absolutely breathtaking…Awesome shot Brian
Brian Carey replied
Thank You Ken. I was a little late getting there to take this one. The sun had already set (behind me) so I had to lengthen the shutter speed. I’m very happy with the way it turned out.

Marc McDonald
Great shot! The streak from the car lights makes it!
Brian Carey replied
Thank You Mark. I likened the streak of light to an artist angerly striking his brush across the canvas, one final last stroke. It give the image some character.

Julian Escardo
This is stunning…..........I am glad to be visiting and see this!
Brian Carey replied
Thanks again Julian. This is the kind of photography I love and a shot that is rather simple to get. Two important tools you need for a shot like this, that a lot of photographers don’t have, are a little patience and a heavy tripod.!
Julian Escardo
Thank you for sharing the experience….......as you mention this, I have been working on purchasing a heavy tripod – though up until now I have shot everything hand-held due to what type of photog I do. Patience….yes, if you don’t have that get out of photography right?
Brian Carey replied
Hi Julian. As you can see from most of my photography that I tend to use slower shutter speeds which calls for a tripod. In my opinion the longer the shutter speeds the heaver the tripod the better. I have three tripods a Slik for travel and two Manfrottos,.In the U. S. I believe they are marketed under the Bogen brand name. My heavy tripod consists of Manfrotto (Bogen) 3251 legs with a large pan and tilt head. My mid sized is a Manfrotto 055 Pro B with a ball head which I use most of the time these days. This might be a good one for you to look into?
Got to say that I do believe and agree with some authors that using a tripod will help with composition because if forces you to slow down and take time to study just what you are about to compose. But it’s all relative to the type of photography you are into. All that being said, experimenting and trying new things is good. Good Luck!
