Artist's Description

A famous view of the dome of St Peter’s Basilica in the Vatican, taken through the keyhole of the door to the headquarters of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta (Knights of Malta). This can be found on the Aventine Hill, in the Piazza dei Cavalieri di Malta.

The doors and the garden must have been planned to leave this view, or else it is a staggering coincidence that when you peer through an otherwise unremarkable keyhole you are rewarded with a perfect view laid out before you.
