Dunn`s Swamp, which lies in the vast Wollemi National Park 35km east of the NSW central tablelands town of Rylstone, probably conjures up visions of an uninviting mosquito infested mire. Such a name however is a complete misnomer for a place so tranquil and pristine. The so called swamp is the damed waters of the Cudgegong River. An excellent camping area with basic facilities is provided and all sites are just a stroll from the water.Canoeing is the most popular recreation activity along with swimming, fishing, bushwalking or just plain relaxing around the campfire with a beer or a cuppa, depending on your preffered beverage. Walking tracks take in the dam wall and outstanding views from the surrounding pagoda rocks.Fauna includes kangaroos, birds, greater gliders, wombats and the elusive platapus may be seen by the patient observant. Photographers with a penchant for landscapes will surely find nirvana.
