    Iron Beauty

The gate stood solid in its iron beauty,
    The fittings, firm and true
    I thought it marvelously wrought,
For a task that was overdue,
    The tenants were precious,
    The need immediate,
And the master knew what he would do.

A craftsman was called with purpose taught,
Told the project and asked his thoughts.
He said without hesitation to the ruler,
Iron, my master, nothing is truer!

Setting to work, with design and sight
He heated the rods and hammered them tight,
Curves and points, and stubs and knobs
He was sure of his plan in this special job.

People love a man with gentleness and love
He seemed to know his gift from above,
With no wasted of materials or extra blows
He built this master piece and made it glow!

It stands as a testament, to his ready skill
And now is locked in Lisbon, Portugal

  • Dear Wayne, what a beautiful homage to the craftsmen who did this wonderful work. Thank you for making my work more valuable to me with your wonderful writings and poems:)
