Taken on a hillside overlooking Bridgeport, California (USA)
On one of my trips to Minden, Nevada last spring we drove over to Bridgeport thinking since it was such a beautiful day we would go to Bodie, a marvelous old ghost town. When we stopped in Bridgeport we found out Bodie was closed, so a little dirt road driving and Twin Lakes shots filled the void and we had a blast!! This would be just one of the hills burned by the many lightning strikes the summer before (at least that would be my best guess). The silence on that hillside was deafening. I found it eerie, haunting and so beautiful up there!! And yes, there was still life in the very tips of those branches.
The mountains in the background are the foothills of the Sierras. Well, at least I think they are!!

It is quite striking how dark those trees are in contrast to the bright ground. They kind of look like shadows themselves – shadows of the life that have been destroyed. Very moody and magnificent piece!

  • Thank you so very much Mui-Ling
