Yes, I’ve been playing in my archives again!! We stumbled onto these big boys (Roosevelt elk ~ Cervus canadensis roosevelti ~ olympic elk ~ wapiti) while visiting Northwest Trek quite a while back. The Roosevelt is the largest of the 4 remaining subspecies of elk in North America. It was June and their antlers were still in velvet and growing rapidly, and they were pretty relaxed fellows. The girls were off shopping, I’m sure, and I suspect the boys were secretly channel surfing, looking for some good baseball action!
