Emerald Lake, BC is one of the prettiest places on the planet and yet most people miss it when driving through the Canadian Rockies.
Located in Yoho National Park, next to the more famous Banff National Park, Emerald Lake is easy to get to.
It’s 10 minutes from the town of Field, BC and only 30 minutes west from famous Lake Louise.
Outdoor adventurers can enjoy hiking, canoeing and kayaking in the summer. Cross-country skiing is popular in the winter.
A high-end lodge and restaurant is located lake-side with unforgettable views of the turquoise waters.
The area was known for thousands of years by the local natives and was discovered in the late 1800s by Europeans. It was originally named Lake Louise but later changed to Emerald Lake since there was another famous Lake Louise only 40 kilometers away.

This is the largest lake in Yoho National Park and there is easy 5.2 kilometer hiking trail around it.
