Mount Lorette Ponds, KCountry, Alberta, Canada

These ponds used to be a part of the Kananaskis River. Looping lazily off the river’s north/south alignment they formed what are known as oxbows, semi-circular or U-shaped bends in the river.
When Hwy 40 was upgraded these oxbows were cut off from the rest of the river. Loss of this important water source could have meant the eventual death of these ponds. However, a ground water discharge sorce replenishes them throughout the year

I’m married to a wonderful man for over 35 years. I have one daughter and one grandson. I live in Winnipeg, Canada. Photography is my passion as is travelling. I do both whenever I can.

Hi Teresa! She’s been home for a few weeks now and she loved it. Didn’t like the getting there or the getting home again. LOL. I’m hoping some rich person kidnaps me and takes me there. LOL

  • Wouldn’t it be nice. I hate long flights too so I know what you mean. I’m glad she liked it though.
