Artist's Description

While driving back home from work on a dreary looking day, this red tailed hawk flew across the road in front of me and landed by the edge of the nearby woods. It then flew and perched on a road side tree. At that point, I decided to set up my gear. It then flew from its nice perch and caught a prey item on the ground.

I approached the hawk as it devoured its meal but did not get close enough until it dispatched its prey. It then jumped onto a fallen tree, cleaned its beak and turned its back to me. I waited and was lucky to get a profile image .This image was taken in Ottawa On Canada using a Nikon D3s camera and Nikon 600 mm lens just as it turned and flew away.
