Sand dunes formed by glistening white sand rising from the heart of the Tularosa Basin are one of the world’s great natural wonders. The dunes engulfed a large area of desert creating the world’s largest gypsum dune field. White Sands National Monument preserves this dune field, the plants and animals that have successfully adapted to this constantly changing environment.
The picture shows the spectacular sunset at White Sands.
