Once Upon A Mid-Summer's Night by

The less you try to
Make sense of each
Of Summer’s tiny parts…

The more that the
Whole thing of
Summer makes…

Lancaster Catholic High School has a summer fair. It’s a-swirl with memories past-made, mixing with memories now-making. And it files itself somewhere in a folder labelled “Summer” which, when we open it looks… well… like this. Right?

Hot Saturday Night at the Lancaster Catholic late June Fair, 2012

Canon 7D, Canon EF-S 10-22mm (f3.5-4.5), PS 4: Custom brushes and textures, layered diddlings with dynamic range then… Topaz Adujstment, AlienSkin: Adjustment 4: Polaroid Creamy Brown Highlights, OnOne: {Perfect Effects3 (custom), AlienSkin: SnapArt3: variations of Crayon as a texture screen.

NOTE: Filters are tools, much like a painter uses different implements to move, build, apply, and texturize oils. Hence I use various filters in Photoshop layers and then spot apply them to reveal my concept.

Aging… Um…. Maturing. Still wondering what I’ll be when I grow up.

feels like summer to me ~ it’s blending of excitement & thrills ~ the lights, the heat, the ride ~ who can separate out the pieces of this season’s feel, like bottling sunshine, it’s the blend of experience…which you’ve created so very well here…even the clouds are hopping a ride on the ferris wheel and singing wheeeeeeeee!!! well done again, Ted xx

  • “Who can separate out the pieces of this season’s feel….” How lyrical Linda… Thanks for deepening my own feelings about this image.

It’s been a few years since we had summer here .. Government cut backs and all that .. do they control the weather ?? Awesome piece my friend .. the smell of the hot-dogs, burgers and all the trimmings ..

  • A law was made a distant moon ago here
July and August mustn’t be too hot
And there’s a legal limit to the snow here
Of course they can control the weather. What do you think all of the global warming reactions are about? Isn’t that entire multi-trillion Euro diversion of your income to appropriate experts all about weather control, or have I been reading the wrong things, or the right things… wrongly?
Thanks Ray… glad you could smell the night :-)

What a fun work you have created here…makes me want to go to the fair.

  • Well given the virtual places your work’s taken me to, I’m pleased that this is a minor payback.
