Artist's Description

Last time I was in Rome there were ruins
Of a civilization long crumbled.
In Turkey I found the Ephesus debris
Of Greeks and Etruscans.

In Bethlehem Pennsylvania there’re
The ruins of Yankee culture
Where the second largest maker of
Steel in the world rots into ruins.

And I wonder if the folks a century
After in Ephesus, or Rome… If they
Put out fences and trash cans
And expected that somehow the
Rotting hulks would rise from
Their tombs?

Did they feel
The ruins meant
It was….
Over?

Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, The ruins of the mighty Bethlehem Steel Corporation (1857-2003).

Canon 7D, PS4: dynamic adjustments, custom textures and brushes, AlienSkin: SnapArt watercolor
