We all know goldfish. Most of us have probably owned one at some stage in our lives. Ponds full of goldfish have been a great source of smiles the world over for centuries. Watching those little golden bodies swaying peacefully with the reeds or darting around en masse, a unified assemblage of golden orange, is one of nature’s beautiful gifts to us.
Japanese artist Riusuke Fukahori finds goldfish beautiful too. They’re also his greatest muse. He meticulously paints them and encloses each layer of paint within resin. More layers of paint are added, as is the resin until his finished creation appears so real and so lifelike that you just want to dip your hand in the water to see if they’ll move.
Watch Riusuke Fukahori show us how he creates these goldfish works. Don’t miss his giant floor fish at the end!
