We don’t celebrate Guy Fawkes in Oz. It is usually hotting up as we head towards Summer. But this year, after a few days of hot weather, we have reverted back to cold and wet… so as November 5th arrived I was reminded of Guy Fawkes back home in the UK… Village bonfires; baked spuds; writing your name in the air with sparklers; watching as the first sparks of flame started licking around the bottom of the bonfire and quickly making its way up the huge stack towards the Guy sitting forlornly at the top… The excitement as the fire roared into life and then the fireworks would be lit one by one and adorn the sky with the brightest of colours and bangs that would bring oohs and ahhs from the crowd… and having to rotate from front to back as wellies and faces would become too hot facing the fire, whilst your back froze!! SO, with all that in my head I did the next best thing – barbie on the patio with my son, eating sausage sizzle, lighting sparklers, running around the dark, damp garden like mad things and having a HEAP load of fun!! If you got to the end of this rambling, thanks for sharing one of my wonderful childhood memories of growing up back home…xx
Oh and I couldn’t decide which of these pics I liked best, so here’s two for the price of one!!
