Sloss Furnace in Birmingham, Alabama was a functioning steel mill from the 1890’s to the 1970’s. It’s now a national historic site that is open to the public and resident artists that make art from molten metal everyday. The site is rich in history and is rumored to be haunted. Over the years hundreds of men lost their lives here and it’s among the favorite places for ghost hunters.
This is Furnace Tower 1. It was installed in 1927 and was in use 24/7 until the closure of the mill in 1971.
