Tawheed Is Unity began in 2006 as an alternative clothing line for young Muslims living in the West. Or so I thought. My first order came from a non-Muslim and since then I have received many positive comments from other non-Muslims who are impressed with the positive display of Islam and it’s values.
The designs that you now see are inspired by the teachings of Islam and hope to instill a sense of pride in all who wear them. Not the horrible ‘I think I’m better than you’ pride but the pride that shows a contentment in your beliefs and a grateful willingness to share them with the world. One t shirt at a time.
I hope these designs appeal to all people of conscience, regardless of your personal beliefs. We live in a world where many try to make us believe that we are now in a clash of civilsations. I believe that the only clash is between the civilised and the non-civilised. Ultimately I believe that ‘Al Maarifah Quwah’ which means ‘Knowledge Is Power’ and it is only through seeking and learning that we excel as a community. Ignorance is our real enemy and maybe these designs might spark a conversation or two and help us to break those barriers that divide us.
