Generations
Family in a rural village in Laos.
Laos was a French colony at the start of the 20th century. It was a union of two former kingdoms, Luang Prabang and Vientiane. The French administered it as a territory within the protectorate of French Indo-China. After World War II, French Indo-China was divided up into three independent countries within the French Union: Cambodia, Laos (independent on 1949-07-19), and Vietnam.
Staying over night in the village, at the whimsical invitation of a woman I met on a local bus, was one of the best chances I ever took on my travels. Spending a couple days with the children, families and elders of this village will remain one of my most memorable of experiences. They were all precious!!!

Excellent image Tatum! Speaks family in so many ways, oh for the opportunities of meeting someone on a bus and being invited into the family! Only when travelling!!!!
Tatum Wulff replied
Thank you Kristi! Yes, it’s true isn’t it, I can’t see being offered to stay overnight by someone I briefly chatted with on a bus here in Vancouver… but if that did happen, I hate to admit it but I think I’d be rather skeptical of the offer lol! That’s one of the many wonderful things traveling offers I suppose, to look at encounters with different eyes and to open your heart to new experiences..
