Peter, this has so many cool elements… the contrast of the grilled steps against the smooth wall, the straight verticals against the curved railing, the shadows playing with all three… and that electric blue against the grey, and the lighting to set form to the curved wall. It’s hard to imaging what construction would have a stairway like this and I wonder if you didn’t create it yourself. Either way, you have created here a masterpiece in composition, lighting and color balance. It’s a totally cool image!

Many thanks to all viewers/commentators, and billyboy in particular.
A nice and shiny large galvanised fuel storage tank was the main original subject. Many of these are often coated with some kind of paint, so I was quite fortunate to capture the clean metallic finish.
The image above, is a crop from the original frame. The round shape of the tank allowed me to apply a curve adjustment layer to emphasise the darkening near the edges. The handrail was actually bright yellow and didn’t stand out very much at all. An extreme hue adjustment delivered the bold blue colour.
I’m definitely not a Photoshop expert, but this result was achieved in less than 20 minutes.
A case of “seeing beyond the capture” and come up with something special. A welcome break from doing landscapes!
