Franklin River in misty rain by

Deep in Tasmania’s south west flows the mighty Wild River – the Franklin River.
A gorge carved deeply into the rock over many aeons of time, here this river flows free as nature intended.
An appropriate shutter speed capturing the motion of the water, the brief shower of misty rain adding an atmospheric element.
The Franklin River flows through the Tasmanian Wilderness World Heritage area, Australia.

The Wilderness Society has a Documentary on the saving of this river from permanent destruction.

What a magnificent muddy ditct ;-)

  • Indeed! This image is taken near Mt McCall. Here is a precise link.

The muddy ditch expression stems from the original quote by the Premier of Tasmania at the time of the Franklin River Campaign – Premier Gray described the Franklin River as ‘nothing but a brown ditch, leech-ridden, unattractive to the majority of people’.

There are many stories all over the internet about this famous river and the campaign to save it.
The hair still stands up on my neck when I read things such as this
