Standing here taking these images is a moment I will hold close for a long time.
The lighting was perfect. My subject was a scene of which I feel I have captured as it should be displayed. The Huon Pine trees on the opposite riverbank, one of its branches being rocked by the current of the water. The water itself, its typical tannin-stained colour, with the ripples in the current and the most amazing swirling patterns caused by the bubbles flowing and swirling downstream. The bend in the river here catching the bubbles and spiralling them around. The various trees in the forest – Myrtle, Laurel… Many grasses, ferns and mosses. And some of the freshest air in the known universe.
As a photographer, I knew I was in the right place. As a person who immensely enjoys this kind of place, I was in awe.
I trust these images allow you a moment of my experience here.
