Mother Cummings Rivulet scene, Tasmania by

A beautiful old Myrtle tree on the side of Mother Cummings Rivulet in Tasmania, Australia.
Mother Cummings Rivulet is sometimes known as Smoko Creek, as further upstream you will find Smoko Falls and Chasm Falls.
This whole area is amazing. The greens are real. Life is everywhere. This big old Myrtle tree beside the rivulet, with its interesting trunk and masses of moss over its roots, was too good to walk past.
A particular favourite of mine, I like the branch near the top right with all the moss, adding a captivating dynamic to what would otherwise been a dull area of the image.
The shine of the wet rocks adds to the clarity and sharpness.

You have really captured the essence of the Tasmanian Wilderness in this beautiful photo.

  • Yes, I’m pretty happy with it. If I had to be picky of my own work, I would have liked the water exiting the tree to the right to be a little darker – I don’t like to see areas in a photo washed out / too white. But that’s being picky, and there is enough in this image to make it well worthy of putting it here.
    Thanks.

Love this area – just visited it myself recently…Beautiful greens for sure and those magnificent myrtle tree’s are well – magnificent..!..Great shot.

  • You would have seen some fantastic fungi if you were in there within the last couple of months… I see you’ve done a fair bit of Tassie yourself – smart man!
    Thanks for looking.
