The old ‘Pink and Grey’, the Galah or the Pink Cockatoo, (Cacatua roseicapilla ) native to Australia. These birds are regulars in our area, they love to congregate in the park over the road in the late afternoon. This photograph captures only a small number of the birds that actually play in the park at any one time.
We are also lucky enough to get a lot of the red and black
Cockatoo’s and every now and then we have spotted a yellow and black one. We also get flocks of the giant black parrots descending in our backyard every couple of weeks – the sound of the honkey nuts (Gum nuts, from the eucalyptus trees, which they eat) falling onto our roof from a great height makes the most incredible racket.
Sometimes I like to just sit on the back patio with my binoculars and watch them in the tree tops.
