Field and barn in South Glastonbury, CT
I had planned to take some landscape photos of this area after work so that I could catch the light as the sun went down. Remembering to bring my camera to work was a victory in and of itself and I couldn’t wait to get out there. The day turned rainy and I thought it would be a waste of time to still scope out the area.
Turned out I was wrong. What I discovered is that I liked everything better through the cloudy sky because it seemed to intensify the colors and added great mood. I’m not sure how people take pics in the rain (do you use a cover for your camera??) – so I proceeded to slowly drive around, pull over with my blinker on, roll down my windows and twist my body in funny ways to try to get the angles and pics I was hoping for. At one point the rain turned on me and came beating in through the window I was looking out of – so I quickly rolled up and shot through the window – and liked it very much. That is how this shot came to be. It makes me feel calm, safe and peaceful.
