I am in the very beginning of my photographic journey. I received my first digital slr camera (Nikon d90) as a gift in July of this year – and my whole world has changed. I’ve been looking for a medium to express myself through ever since I was a little girl and took my first dance class (ballet) (of which the teacher told my mother I would never succeed) in kindergarten. I’ve tried other dancing, sports, music, gymnastics, drawing,…etc., with little success. The world of digital photography and the digital darkroom seems like it just may be something I can sink my teeth into. At the age of 40 – to have finally found that ‘something’ – feels like a big sigh of relief. LOL
I’m still exploring what subject matter suits me the best. So far I lean towards nature shots because I will take any excuse to be outside, getting dirty and exploring the beauty that is all around us. I am drawn towards abandoned buildings and places because of the stories they leave behind…and because they can be a little bit dangerous. Also – falling down structures require nothing of me – I can show up without make up and heels and feel right at home. LOL I hope to cause the viewer to pause for a moment and reflect on the world around us. My favorite pictures are the ones that have moved me – have taken my breath away in the moment – and my desire is for that to translate to you.
I’ve found RedBubble to be a wonderfully supportive community of extremely talented people. It’s been a pleasure to sell some pictures through this site – but mostly I think of this as an invaluable learning tool.
