Artist's Description

My second ever attempt at usiing original quill pen and ink well.

Quill pen is a difficult art to master. since it uses the old style pen nib and must be dipped in inkwell and very carefully rubbed against the edge of the inkwell or a practice surface to make sure just the right amount of ink is in the nib before it is applied.

Too much ink in the nib and you have a mess, too little and meaningless scratches happen on the surface of the artwork. A very delicate undertaking to be sure. modern day inking pens are by far easier.

It makes one wonder how ever did the writers of old have such beautiful handwritting, with such difficult means of application.

…And evermore moving forward is mankind, to the point that we have gone from our modern day ink pens, to the mouse and then the wacom tablet and now of all things the ‘inkling’

This is my entry for the redbubble challenge for the ‘inkling’
