This is the very first digital painting I ever did….
I had done work in photoshop and corel and illustrator….

but had never actually painted one…
so I took my Mom and Dads wedding photo and off I went….

It is a fairly accurate painting and I am very proud of it…

My Mom and Dad weren’t to pleased. My dad says his hair looks too yellow and my mom says she looks too fat….

This is the reason I have strayed and shrunk from doing portrait art my whole life…
most people dont like if you dont flatter them.

Oh well I am very proud of it for my first digital painting….it took many many hours of hard work.

It was done in 1994…I Dont remember which photoshop version was out then…but this was done in photoshop. I have lost the original file…this is done from a scan of it in a frame.

I knew I wanted to be an artist at age 4 (Full story: Click on full portfolio, Click on my name)

I am permanently disabled and work at home. Previously, I have been employed as Art Director at California Manufacturers Association and Production Artist at SMW Communications of Sacramento CA.

I studied art at The Academy of Art in San Francisco 1977-79
Mediums:
Oils. Acrylics. Watercolors. Pastels. Inks. Charcoals. Graphites.

YES I DO REMEMBER AS A CHILD…MY MOM WAS GETTING READY TO GO OUT…AND I JUST THOUGHT SHE WAS THE MOST BEAUTIFUL WOMAN I HAD EVER SEEN,…SO I ASKED HER HOW OLD SHE WAS…BECAUSE I WAS DETERMINED THAT I WOULD WISH TO BE THAT BEAUTIFUL TOO AT THAT AGE, THE AGE WAS 32…AND I DONT THINK I WAS NEAR AS STRIKING AS SHE WAS AT THAT AGE…:)…THE MEMORY IS VERY CLEAR IN MY MIND…;)

Portraits are very difficult, and just like with photography – most people don’t like their own image (it is just harder to argue with a photograph).

I think you did a nice job!

  • AWW THANK YOU EVER SO ARLA….;)
