OAR AND BURKE BLACKSMITHING AND WAGONWORKS by

THIS IS A WATERCOLOR. DONE ON WATERCOLOR PAPER.
IT IS AN HISTORICAL PIECE.

MY FATHERS’S GREAT GRANDFATHER (OAR) WAS CO-OWNER WITH MR. BURKE.

THIS WAS THE BLACKSMITHING AND WAGONWORKS BUSINESS IN RENO NEVADA..

IT STOOD ON 1ST AND MAIN STREET BY THE TRUCKEE RIVER, WHERE THE OLD MAPES HOTEL ONCE STOOD.

THE MAPES WAS AN HISTORICAL BUILDING BUT WAS NOT ABLE TO BE RESTORED AND SO WAS TORN DOWN. NOW ANOTHER BUSINESS IS THERE.

GOLDMINERS WOULD STOP TO HAVE THEIR NEEDS MET FOR HORSES AND WAGONS ET AL BEFORE TRAVELING ACROSS THE SIERRA NEVADA’S IN SEARCH FOR GOLD.

I PAINTED THIS PICTURE FOR MY FATHER WHEN I WAS IN HIGH SCOOL AS A FATHER’S DAY GIFT, IT WAS THE SECOND WATERCOLOR I EVER DID.
