The Scout
I was thinking of ‘The Keepers of the North’ when I painted this. Please excuse the story I’m about to post. I was feeling romantic and fanciful. I’m not a writer and I hope you forgive the terrible writing and instead see some of what I was thinking while painting this.

Eruanna was known throughout the North Country as the best tracker and scout in the land. It was her job to watch the veiled path between the world of man and elf.
Her mother and father were starting to wonder if she would ever choose a mate from among the many seeking her hand. What they didn’t know was that she was already in love with a mortal man, a human that lives just on the other side of the great veil.
One day when she was but a child she followed her endless curiosity down the path to glimpse the land of man. She seen a young boy fatally injured by an ice bear and without thinking slipped through the veil. She used her healing powers to save his life and stood guard over him until he woke up. When the ten year old boy named Warren awoke to the enchanting girl standing over him, he sleepily asked who she was, thinking her to be an angel. She blurted her name and ran.
He returned many times through the years searching for her, calling out her name, but the closest she ever came to him again was to leave gifts for him to find. Her healing potion for his horse when he fell ill, flowers from her mother’s garden and a glittering amulet to bring him protection.
Through the years Eruanna had watched him grow into a man of power and strength. He was now king in his land. She longed for him and loved him greatly. Eruanna hoped someday that the rift between her people and his could be mended and she could proclaim her love for him. Until then she would just watch and wait and hope.
