Guess who got a wacom board for Xmas!!

Hi all yes got a lovely wacom board for chrissy off my boyfriend and it’s all very exciting but it is very different to drawing on paper!
I have uploaded my first 2 drawings, well the very first one looked really bad, so did the second so they are not really the first but more like the 3rd and 4th LOL

Anyway I just spent 3 weeks in the country away from the computer, painting on canvas which was really great, and I hope to have them in a group show later this year I will keep you posted.

bye for now

What more can you ask for!? Can I inquire as to the model? I’m a total addict, being positively unable to draw on paper, my wacom brings me all the way up to 3rd grade drawing level!!

Hey Tam, someone told me that if it’s getting away from you a bit to put a piece of paper on the surface for a little while till you get used to driving the pen – slows it down a little …
Makes no difference to me, I’m still a 2nd class grade artist!! :)

I guarantee you’ll become addicted in no time. If you can, get your hands on a copy of Corel Painter. It has the most realistic brushes that I know of.

Maybe a copy of Painter Essentials (a cut down version) came with the tablet? If so, install it. It’s pretty awesome.

Tablets are a little hard to get used to because they don’t have that nice grip that you have with pen and paper! I had one at my last job and I’m really missing it now.

Regarding the grip (traction) you get with a pencil, the wacom stylus (at least the one that came with my intuos3) comes with changeable nibs, one of which is rough like a pencil. You get a nice scratchy resistance that the default nib lacks.
Also, one of them has a spring in it, which is pretty cool – nice and bouncy.
