A well earned rest, after a long ride through the waters of the Okavango. The mokoro’s take a break.
The Okavango Delta is the largest inland delta in the world.
The Okavango Delta has no outlet to the ocean, instead it empties onto the sands of the Kalahari desert. Each year some 11 cubic kilometres of water reach the delta.
At any point during our ride through the delta, the water was always crystal clear. I remember looking over the side of the Mokoro down into the water, it was quite deep (approx 6-7ft) and still very clear; you could see the bottom.
Taken in the Okavango Delta, Botswana.
