Nice capture, Dave. That’s quite a reach this bird has!
thanks Dot. It’s not too often I see them with there neck stretched. They are a strange looking bird

Very nice Dave – the reflection is neat. After seeing the Great blue and this one, I googled St. Catherines. Its a good 10 hour drive from here. I think I will try to find some closer! lol
thanks Mary. 10 hours is a bit far to travel to take a chance on seeing a Great Blue Heron :-)
Lovely capture Dave! :)
thank you Kylie
Well, St. Catharines is only a half-hour from here! Got to get over to that trail. What a great shot, Dave! I have NEVER seen one of these herons doing that! They’re always just hunkered down looking suspiciously at me. Or flying away….
thank you Sheila. I went back today and the Great Blue was less than 100’ from the trail. I had to take the 1.7 teleconverter off because he was too close. Hopefully I got a couple good shots. No sight of the Green Heron or the Black-Crowned Heron today but The Great Blue made up for it
Beautiful shot Dave!
thank you very much Marvin
Very beautiful scene and capture. A lovely touch with the bird drinking.
thank you Lozzar
thank you Monte
Such a fabulous capture – your timing was spot on.
thank you . They don’t move too quickly so I was able to get a few shots of the bird drinking
