On the road to Oldstead. by TallGuy

On the road to Oldstead.

This was one of my first attempts at Ortonising a photo.. I don’t think my Orton technique has ever matched it since.. perhaps it was just the subject matter that suited the technique.. It’s a photo of a small country lane just off the North York Moors.

    Hi Charlotte,
I’m no expert at Orton, but a rough idea is you are merging a slightly blurred version of a photo with the a sharp version. This has the effect of giving that soft feeling the photo has, and in this case enhanced the colours.
I think originally it was a film effect, but now you can get a similar effect digitally.
The method I used, you will find under the heading “Digital Technique” here….

The originator of the technique was Michael Orton.
