Nelson Bay, NSW. An Oyster Catcher, one of my favourite sea birds. I have to smile at their name .. after all oysters cling to something and don’t dart around so where does ‘catcher’ come in to it? Love their bright colours, they exude personality.

Beautiful capture .. don’t know where the “catcher” comes from .. but.. they stick their beaks into the sand and silt to catch worms and things .. and some are like Cuckoos they lay their eggs in Gulls nests !! Something I read recently!! x
