Captain Cook struck a reef nearby in 1770 hence the name Struck Island, it is part of the Hope Islands National Park and located off Thornton Beach, Cape Tribulation, far North Queensland. Australia.
Cook had such a difficut lime on his voyage which is so hard to imagine it is so beautiful here, still unspoilt.
Bereft at members of his crew dying and everything else that went from bad to worse he named a mountain ‘Sorrow’ … clearly indicitive of how he felt about his time here. ‘Struck, Tribulation & Sorrow’.
