BACK THEN by Sally Omar
Back Then women were proper
Their dresses long
Men were the breadwinners
And very strong
A good woman stood home
And cooked the meal
It really didn’t matter
What she would feel
She fed her children
Did the chores
Actually did things
She did abhor
But the man didn’t care
He worked hard each day
And he felt what he said
Was the only way
Women were never
The aggressors
Because men were the law
Their oppressors
Back then life may have been simple
Everything was black or white
What men said
Was always right
Women married
Not to be old maids
And lived a life
With a shade
Covering their eyes
To what they could be
They never realized
Their ability

Amazing people to have pioneered a continent the way they did. I doubt I could even survive wearing clothes like that in the temperatures of the Australian Summer! I can’t imagine how the women stopped from overheating.

Super photo and very informally posed for the period. The men definitely outnumber the women in that family!! Hugs, Peter

Thanks Pommie, very true indeed. They did a program over here similar to the ones in the UK the WW2 one, present day people in the house ‘outback house’ couldn’t bear all the clothes!

Thank you John, it is a lovely property, I was fortunate enough to be able to wander around, the very veranda is still the same …. no sign of ghosts though – I think? Tai

What a great Photo, I love Photos from this era it really instills in me the earnest honest hard work that it took to survive back then. The feel is very real here where I live, too bad Society couldn’t take some learning from these times, and consider for now what are the real important things in life.
Thanks for sharing this it is well preserved.

Well said prisoner! I so agree, with the ease of life today much of the social structure is gone. Thank you for your considered comments, much appreciated
