On the Inside

On the Inside belongs to the following groups:

All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical and The Word Tree

Peaceful, gentle, charming face,
Smiling eyes without a trace
of the turmoil deep below;
Lovely on the outside.

Eloquent and full of grace,
Ambling on with steady pace
disguising the haste within;
Slowly on the outside.

Never showing any fears,
suppressing those Earthbound tears
that flow so seldomly these days;
Happy on the outside.

Wise beyond these Earthly years,
philosophical to hear
those ideals shared without a doubt;
Thoughtful on the outside.

Very few get close enough,
to experience all the stuff
this soul endures with every day;
Gaurded on the outside.

Should one day this hard shell crack,
curl in close, do not hold back,
Shield your eyes but not your heart;
Fragile on the outside.

Crawl inside and find your way,
insecurities at bay,
what you seek has always been;
Shining on the Inside.

    This piece comes at a time when my dearest friend is in a very bad way, emotionally and mentally. Always the light for each of us to follow – yet deep within her, she was fragile and hurting….how could we have missed it.

    The last stanza – sums up beautifully my deepest hope for my dearest friend…..

    “Crawl inside and find your way,
    insecurities at bay,
    what you seek has always been;
    Shining on the Inside.”

    Beautiful and sensitive writing…..

    Thanks – this is, (I think), the way a lot of us find ourselves in at some point (or points) in our lives. In fact, I suppose, it’s usually the ones who we hold the closest to our hearts that realise it first.. that’s a part of what makes us Human I guess, we need to feel connected & at times when we need it most, there are friends that help.
    By the way, I’ve gotta tell you what inspired me to writ this, a few things actually, but I’ll mention a couple here…
    Firstly, I’ve been reading a lot of your stuff Lisa, recently the theme has been quite moving to me, not sure why but it struck a big old chord inside; then yesterday I started singing some tunes from an old ‘favourite album of mine – ‘From the Inside – by Alice Cooper (about 1976 I think), & suddenly I needed to put words on paper… (you should, if you haven’t already listen to this album…push past the momentary lapses of cheesy pop that some producer inevitabely favoured,..the lyrics are really very good…)

    xx

    Welcome to RB.
    As I say quite often, when I read prose or poems in your language, it’s quite difficult for me to understand all at a time.
    It may take some hours or days, until I understand.
    In any case, I will read and and no doubt appreciate your writings.
