Here in the USA, particularly in New England where I live, the rainbow symbol doesn’t necessarily always mean “gay” anymore. It’s often used to denote inclusiveness in a generic sense, including ethnic diversity. You may be surprised to learn that a great many Christian churches here, particularly UCC (the United Church of Christ denimination) will often have a rainbow simbol on their outdoor advertizing, with the caption, “All Welcome.”
