Political Satire Tee of Obama for He is Risen
From SFGate.com….
Lofty expectations for Obama’s inaugural speech
It will probably be the most widely watched address ever delivered, one that will draw millions of Americans and billions around the globe together – to savor the moment and the message of one man at one memorable turning point in American history.
And that makes the inaugural address of Barack Obama, to be delivered Tuesday, more than merely a ceremonial occasion of state. It represents the biggest challenge yet for a political leader whose eloquence has been essential in his unlikely rise to become leader of the free world.

The test: to not only master the present, but to meet the standards of those who have stood before him in the same place, to deliver a soaring sermon for the ages and at the same time to address the precise set of daunting circumstances now facing the nation.
and from the same excerpt…..
Obama’s inaugural address comes at “a moment of extreme crisis for the country, with a virtual depression and two wars,” said Democratic strategist and speechwriter Phil Trounstine. “He’s taking charge of the ship of state in the middle of the perfect storm”.

Barack Hussein Obama II born August 4, 1961) is the 44th and current President of the United States. He is the first African American to hold the office. Obama was the junior United States Senator from Illinois from January 2005 until November 2008, when he resigned following his election to the presidency.

Obama is a graduate of Columbia University and Harvard Law School, where he was the first African American president of the Harvard Law Review. He worked as a community organizer in Chicago before earning his law degree, and worked as a civil rights attorney in Chicago before serving three terms in the Illinois Senate from 1997 to 2004. He also taught constitutional law at the University of Chicago Law School from 1992 to 2004.

Obama lost an election for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2000. He entered the 2004 Democratic primary for U.S. Senate as an underdog and then won the primary with broad support that surprised campaign watchers and raised his profile in the Democratic party. He was selected to deliver the keynote address at the Democratic National Convention in July 2004 and gave a nationally televised speech that further raised his profile. In the November general election he won a landslide victory for a Senate seat.

He launched a bid for president in early 2007 and competed in a close contest in the 2008 Democratic Party presidential primaries against Hillary Rodham Clinton. He won the nomination and became the first major party African American presidential candidate. In the 2008 general election he defeated Republican candidate John McCain and was inaugurated as President on January 20, 2009.

Thanks – there has been so much media coverage of Obama and whilst respecting his intentions and vision for America and the world I wanted to make a statement about the mass expectations of his role as President. The idea has been floating in my head for some time, but following reading this excerpt I just had to do it: the symbolism was too much!

    NICELY DONE!!!
Yes this is a Brilliantly Auspicious Time of historical breakthrough!
and that is a sweater even an NON American would be proud to wear!
This man coming into power symbolizes the END of apartheid, the possible end of the African hatred of America, the beginning of educating those who cannot see beyond the cover that anyone can achieve their goals!
I just pray that he is given the term to actually achieve what you all – what we all – so desperately want him to! He has come into power not only of America but of the western world. If Elizabeth II is the Queen with the most world recognised Royal power then the President of the USA is the Elected Leader with the most world power! And nothing against Hillary but I am glad the racism was obliterated before the sexism was – the men of the world could accept a man leading them of a different colour before they could accept a woman [unless it was Geena Davis, Glen Close, Meryl Streep or Michelle Phifer – or maybe Madonna! lol]
Chookas to your new boss … I have my fingers crossed he will stay
☼ BRAVO !! ☼ to you for this ekphrasis!
