When I first came to Turkey I used to refer to the trousers as ‘MCHammer Pants’. All Turkish women in the village wear them – generally as overgarments to keep their clothes below clean. They are also worn in the fields for the same purpose and, I think, for modesty as when working the women tend crops bending at the waist.
As for colours, anything goes – this is very typical. Lets just say there seems to be a surplus of repeat pattern flowery material.
