Leon Alegria's Melting Woman

A selection of private works that are not available for sale.
These works pay homage to my a few of my favourite masters, past and present.

Leon Alegria is a self-taught draughtsman, painter and printmaker.
His work is characterized by use of imagery in which themes of nostalgia, enigma, eroticism and myth are explored.
His works are figurative abstract in style.
His works include portraits, surreal environments and abstract compositions.

I used the theme of the Melting Woman and reworked it using acrylics on canvas. The shades of colour used are more vibrant than the original piece and my interpretation moves from left to right across the canvas and the woman’s body literally melts into a pool of water.
