Old vintage photos are a great source of inspiration for me….the classic and natural beauty often portrayed is so elegant that they are instantly recognisable and make for superb artworks.

For many of us who love horses, there are times when, for whatever reason, we cannot be with them and we miss them so much. Their tender, playful, unconditional love fills our hearts with a joy that is so precious. The feeling of longing is beautifully portrayed in this artwork and evokes a great sense of respect and love for our equine soul mates.

Oh wow Tahnja, this is something new; I do like the level of realism here that has the vintage touch touch to it. The soft shading on her face is remarkable, and the added colours and textures are complimenting the painting without being overpowering. Very beautiful Tahnja.

  • It is slightly new…though I have painted vintage woman and horses before…this is without a darker background that I tend to favour…it wouldn’t have worked for this limited palette painting though. I started it with just the black and white but it desperately missed something…so the slight touches of colour really made a difference and gave it added life.

Yes, more realism to this one….and the soft shading took some practice as I’m not use to it as you would know. But I keep the impasto impressionistic to keep that feel there as well.

Thank you for your fantastic comments….I truly love them and I love sharing my work!
