Acrylic on sketch paper.

Standard A3 size.

A gift for my daughter for her birthday this year. From the time my Sarah could talk she spoke words of God’s wisdom that have always stopped me dead in my tracks. I’ve never made a fuss or big deal about it so as not to deter her in any way by paying undue or too little attention. I always merely stopped, listened and thanked her (and in my mind, thanked God) for her insights and knowledge.

So now that she is turning 17 years old, I wanted to paint something very special. The beautiful Snowy Owls represent her great wisdom which she receives from God. The beautiful Australian landscape and rolling red hills depict her Aboriginal heritage from her Father’s side.

She LOVES art and music just like her sister Jaymi. I have been greatly blessed to share so much in common with my girls. So very, very blessed.

wow tahnja. she’s a beauty ..well done!
I so love the owl as well..I’ve been seeing a few owls in the garden over the months.. the owl is regarded as a messenger in some ancient lore.. a fine painting.

  • Sorry Cathy, I had to repost your comment because the close up was meant just for here to show detail…..hugs

Oh Tahnja this is exquisite work she is so lovely and yes there is a tranquil aura around her love these beautiful soulful eyes.

  • Aww geez Renate…..what a heartwarming comment. Yes, I tried to reveal the beauty in her wonderful and expressive eyes….she’s a wonderful girl and I’m really thrilled that this turned out as well as I had hoped. Her skin and making sure the colour was strong enough to that the red mountains didn’t overpower the whole thing was a bit of a hassle but in then end, I’m really happy with the feeling and colours

Lovely work Tahnja…………..love the symbolism, technique and your pallet is exquisite, bravo!

  • Wonderful to see your comment here dear friend. This really did turn out very well. Worked really hard on the skin tones because the red mountains threatened to wash her skin out…but managed to get the right balance. Thank you so much Ade

Beautiful symbolic work Tahnja. I am sure your daughter will adore this. Her eyes say it all.

  • I can’t wait for her to see this….it’s been something I’ve wanted to do for her for a very long time but it never felt like the right time until now and I’m thinking because she’s older and the theme works perfectly now to reveal her inner nature and spirit.
