Hi Lynette! You are just the most wonderful lady my friend. I don’t know why exactly but I just had to do that background. I put the impasto medium onto the canvas then I etched out rough rose petals and leaves and then painted it dark, then did the detail in an old gold paint. I really love this as well and will use impasto again as I fell totally in love with the texture

Hi Louise! Yes I have to admit that I really love this piece though the severity of His suffering is more evident in my depiction that the original image I was asked to work from. Having such a great love for Him I can’t help that I tend to bring Him to life a lot lol.
