No warning of attack
Simply captured by a faceless feeling
To the outside all is normal, quiet
But I can hear the raging rapid fire of dawning
Verbally denying the worries of a doubtful heart
Does nothing to quell the uncertainty within.
A civil war of the heart and mind
The only casualty being one
Unminded scars that will hurt again under
A soft word or lazy caress
There’s no camuflage
No real word to give credence to the rumors of
Retailiated emotion or cease fire
Was there a draft or did I foolishly enlist?
If freedom was granted,
Could I walk away?
Could I forget?
Would I not yearn for the excitement of the battle
Would my heart come with me
Or stay unopened on your doorstep, waiting
For you to join the war…T.A.Chamot
